Network Collaboration Day October 2006
In October 20th this term 106 Support Staff from network schools attended our training day on 'Inclusive Strategies to Support Pupils with SEN'. The venue was Ashfield Secondary Special School and deputy head Jan Hunt kindly took photos during the day for us to remember the event.
The day began with a gathering and introductions. This was followed by 4 work shop sessions throughout the day. These were 'Inclusive Strategies and Resources to Support Pupils with SEN', 'Managing Childrens Emotions' 'Strategies to Support Dyslexic Pupils' 'Using and Looking after your Voice'. The trainers were Ashfield outreach staff and Learning Mentors, Claire Ogburn, Michelle Mollard and Cathy Loftus, Lynn Bishop Network Inclusion Co-ordinator from the Toxteth Learning Network and Kathryn Dion-King - voice coach. Holly Wilson Senior Education Officer for the Local Authority joined us at lunch to give advice about further training and accreditation for TAs.
Evaluations of the day were really positive, with many comments about staff having appreciated the chance to meet colleagues from other schools and finding the different workshops useful and informative. I certainly enjoyed the chance to meet and talk to so many support staff during the day.
