Marking Writing Bands
Writing criteria listed in bands A, B and C for teachers to assess individual pupils' writing. Teachers highlight the skills the child has achieved in each band and then add up the scores to attain a level. There are marking bands for non-fiction and fiction and these can be used when marking pupils' half termly writing assessment pieces. Skills not achieved are the next half term's targets for improvement. Each child's assessment booklet can follow them throughout the school.
